Airbus this week announced 3 potential prototypes planes using hydrogen as fuel, lighter cheaper and able to fly further, which led Hong Kong 3’s Phil Whelan to ask the question what fuels might be we be using in the future?

Long answer short, same fuel, different day at least for the next few decades.

As the chart above shows we are locked in through infrastructure, machinery, habits and despite popular belief abundant supplies of all of the traditional fuels and it’s going to take some thing big to change this – I hope we find it, but nothing on the horizon shows evidence of being the game-changer.
