{Radio} Paralympics Future Style
The Paralympics are an incredible global moment in time witnessing and celebrating the accomplishments of elite athletes and this week Hong Kong Radio 3’s Phil Whelan and I continue our chat from last week, when we explored the technology behind the athletes and the games, to this week chatting about the back story of what it’s like to be an elite athlete, and for many also attend a University and study.
We were joined in studio by Naomi McCarthy OAM, manager of the Sports College at Griffith University and Director on the Board of Queensland’s Academy of Sport, who represented Australia at two Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004, winning a gold medal in Athens in 2004 for water polo and as a Griffith Alumni, understands the demands elite athletes often face when juggling training, competitions and study who gave us insight into the rigours of juggling life, training for an Olympics and studying.
