The trick to using them is to not be too literal, think instead about what the world might look like and what might be different when/if it becomes a reality.

Then brainstorm the repercussions, possibilities, impacts and changes that this becoming ordinary might have on people, work, society, politics, technology, environment, your products, your customers, your staff, your business, your industry and you.

Have fun, when you’re stuck or want to up the ante, use a second card (and a third) and see how the two or three foresight postcards might combine to give you a whole new set of horizons and possibilities to imagine.

After you’ve done your thinking, sort the possibilities into various header categories and then allocate each possibility into its category, prioritising each as you place it under its heading according to how much impact it could have on your business or product.

The trick is to see that even though the perfect solution may not exist yet, or may be too expensive or difficult, for now, that you can find a work around to achieve the same thing, but in a different way – or to quote postcard 31 – It’s not perfect, but with what we know and what we have, it works for now.
