{Radio} Nature Knows Best – Biomimicry and Circular Economies
Hong Kong Radio 3’s Phil Whelan sent through an interesting request for this week’s segment topic – what’s Biomimicry and Circular Economies all about, on the back of an earlier interview he did that morning of a new recycling plant.
It all starts with “everything old, is new again”. Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that looks to nature and the environment to inspire or recreate – mimic -products, processes, and policies as a solution to complex human and built environment challenges.
This practice, just like nature, assumes the reuse and or repurposing of existing elements and things wherever possible. It has at its core an interdependence and co-reliance on many different things coming together to complete or build the new element – a circular economy.
We’re seeing this design approach more often in agriculture, architecture, construction, energy , fashion, transportation and many other disciplines.
And if that wasn’t enough, we also chatted about 7 new technologies we’ll see in our cars in the next 5 years.
A great story, approach and chat, listen now (18 minutes and 57 seconds).
